Fedaen’s AI-Powered Services

FEDASEN’s end to end Smart Services

FEDASEN has developed an innovative technology by which it has provided a variety of services to cover roadside asset management with ease and accuracy.

There are five main services that we provide, each of which is a step toward enabling urban infrastructure service providers in giving the best service to citizens:

Asset Identifiction and Registry

FEDASEN has integrated a powerful AI-powered image processing engine at the heart of FiRA, which defines numerous visual patterns. This enables the processing of any image or video captured of roads to detect assets and defects, and extract their data. This innovative technology puts the next generation of road asset management systems in the hands of infrastructure service providers.

Since the AI engine employs Machine Learning techniques, the system is trained gradually on any defined visual pattern to detect objects more accurately. Therefore, with each image recording and processing round, the accuracy of detection improves, and the overall efficiency of the system increases.

Utilising FiRA, there is no need for manual data gathering and data entry, nor for human inspection to ensure data accuracy and up-to-date information.

Our AI engine is powered by over 2,300 specialised models capable of recognising an extensive range of road, roadside, and footpath assets—regardless of their geometry or complexity. From linear features like pavement markings to point-based assets such as signs, and even irregular shapes like cracks and surface defects, our solutions ensure nothing is overlooked. This adaptability allows us to detect and classify virtually any asset or defect within your network, delivering a truly comprehensive and future-ready solution.

Asset and Defect Classification

Since many business procedures, as well as reporting, are performed on logical groups of assets, it is crucial to categorise the detected assets under a logical, and preferably inherent, classification.

FEDASEN’s AI engine can automatically classify objects in any hierarchical organisation. All you have to do is relate any defined pattern to a node in the hierarchy. The rest will be done by the system.

Training the system’s AI engine by fine-tuning the result of its image processing not only increases the accuracy of detection but also improves the classification quality.

FiRA has keen eyes, which enable it to detect even objects that are somewhat similar to those with the defined pattern. It classifies them as unknown for later inspection. As soon as the object gets classified, the system learns to recognise it from the next round on. This way, the number of unrecognised objects decreases, and the system becomes smarter.

Asset Condition Assessment and Rating

The physical condition and serviceability of the assets may deteriorate over time, due to accidents or even natural causes. A pavement marking may fade, a piece of asphalt may crack, a piece of cement kerb may get chipped, and a traffic sign may be bent out of shape or even be blocked by foliage out of sight.

Inspecting, logging, reporting, and keeping track of the entire operation have been a burden. Until now! With the Fedasens Intelligent Road Analyser (FiRA), you can set different visual patterns of the same object to represent different conditions. Although the most used conditions are Very Good (As New), Good, Fair, Poor and Very Poor (Unserviceable), they can be labelled under any other names and cover a much wider range.

The system not only detects and classifies the object completely automatically, but also does the condition rating in the same manner. It creates a historical log of all changes in conditions, making them machine-reportable. The system can also create a work order to be sent to the maintenance service provider through the systematic pipeline between the system and existing systems, or by email or any other means.

Asset Data Visualisation

All the images and videos recorded, points of interest detected and classified, and all the data extracted and stored in the system’s database need to be presented in an easy-to-use web interface to let the users enjoy the power of accessible information.

FiRA Portal is an integral part of the FiRA, FAST and RAST, where all the above happen. The users can

  • browse the data in data grids, where they can search for any asset by various tools and display them on the map,
  • see them in graphical charts format to know about their statistical distribution in any given area,
  • filter objects displayed on the map by drawing geometrical shapes, such as circleslines and polygons,
  • display objects of different classes, such as signs, lines and defects, side by side on the same map,
  • explore 360° panoramic imagery captured from real-world environments, enabling realistic virtual inspections,
  • and review and edit assets’ properties, and even add assets manually if needed

System Integration

Modern organisations rely on multiple information systems, and any new solution must integrate smoothly with them. FiRA Onboard and FiRA Portal are built with this in mind. Integration happens on two levels: data and functionality.

On the data level, Fedasen offers flexible options for data exchange—from simple import/export in standard formats to automated, real-time transfers via RESTful APIs. Depending on your requirements, data can move through secure FTP, ETL processes, or direct API calls.

On the functionality level, our solution is developed on a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), enabling seamless communication with any system that supports RESTful APIs. We provide a rich set of APIs to ensure smooth interoperability and create a harmonised ecosystem across your enterprise.

FiRA already integrates with leading platforms such as SAP, ArcGIS, Maximo, and various internal asset management systems, ensuring your workflows remain connected, efficient, and future-ready.
