FAST
Footpath and verge Asset Smart observation Technology
FAST (Footpath and verge Asset Smart observation Technology) is Fedasen’s specialised solution built on the foundation of the Fedasen Intelligent Road Analyser (FiRA), designed to deliver intelligent, high-precision asset management for footpaths, bicycle paths, shared paths, and urban verge areas. FAST combines advanced AI models, custom software, and a compact hardware setup that can be mounted on a variety of platforms—including motorised scooters, standard vehicles, and even autonomous robots—to access complex environments such as stairs, underpasses, and elevated walkways.
The system captures and processes visual clues from surfaces, kerb gaps, signage, vegetation, urban fixtures, and service zones. It automatically detects and classifies defined assets, calculates their exact geographic location and dimensions, and evaluates their placement and serviceability condition. FAST also applies the same AI techniques to identify and assess a wide range of defects and deformations, analysing their severity and potential safety risks.
By integrating multi-modal imagery—including ground-level and aerial views—FAST ensures comprehensive coverage and accuracy, enabling councils and infrastructure managers to maintain reliable, up-to-date asset registries and make informed decisions for maintenance and planning.
In addition to routine inspections and planned regular data collections, FEDASEN will also provide the FAST Compact mobile agent equipment for installation on the client’s vehicles (bikes, quads, etc.) that operate in the city daily.
- It is a cost-efficient and lightweight type of FAST Mobile Agent, specially and ergonomically designed for easy use by non-expert users.
- It is a fully automated device pack that captures and processes footpath and cycleway data onboard. This enables unlimited, rapid daily data collection and on-the-spot processing, which can be especially used to remove hazards and promptly respond to emergencies.
- Although all the processing is performed on the mobile agent, the processed data can later be transferred to FAST servers for further analysis.
- It is limited to working only in a predefined geographical region (e.g., a ward or a suburb) based on the client’s needs.
